About LearnMoney
Money, made understandable.
LearnMoney is a plain-English school for the money decisions people actually make, from first jobs and first loans to first tax returns and first investments, built on the belief that the whole system is learnable, not mysterious. Every lesson, every calculator, every glossary entry is written to teach the concept, not to sell a product.
Mission
Make US personal finance, taxes, and borrowing genuinely understandable, so that a first paycheck, a first loan, or a first tax return never has to be a leap of faith.
Vision
A country where financial literacy is treated as a basic skill, and where every learner, whether a student, a first-time earner, or a mid-career professional, can walk into a money decision with the same confidence a professional would.
Values
Clarity over jargon. Accuracy over hype. Respect for the reader's time and money. Education first, never a sales funnel dressed up as a lesson.
Why we exist
Most personal-finance content on the internet is written to sell something, whether an account, a course, or a lead. That's why so many first encounters with money end in confusion, a signup form, or a product pitch instead of an actual answer.
The US financial system rewards people who understand it. Interest rates compound whether you know how they work or not. Tax brackets, retirement accounts, and student-loan rules apply to you regardless of whether anyone bothered to explain them. The gap between people who know the system and people who don't becomes real dollars, often hundreds of thousands of dollars, over a working lifetime.
LearnMoney closes that gap by teaching the concepts fully, in plain English, with worked examples using specific US accounts, forms, and programs, the way a good teacher would explain them to a friend.
What we teach
Our curriculum spans 3 tracks. Together they map to the national personal-finance standards used by US high schools. See the standards mapping for the full crosswalk.
Personal Finance 101
A complete curriculum for the confident, self-directed American investor β from opening your first account to tax-efficient withdrawal in retirement.
Taxes
Master the US tax system β from Form 1040 basics to credits, deductions, and career-specific filing strategies.
Loans
Master every kind of borrowing β credit scores, mortgages, auto loans, and student debt. Understand what borrowing really costs and how to come out ahead.
How we work
Educational only. Never advice.
We do not tell any specific person what they should do with their money. Every lesson teaches concepts and general frameworks; every AI response refuses to prescribe personal plans, recommend specific stocks, lenders, or brokers, or prepare individual tax returns.
No ads inside your lessons.
Learning is the product. We do not run display advertising in the middle of a lesson, do not sell your reading data to advertisers, and do not target you based on the topics you read.
Plain-English is a discipline.
Jargon has a job: it lets professionals communicate quickly among themselves. In a lesson, jargon is a wall. We define every technical term the first time it appears, and cross-link the glossary so a reader can always look up a word without leaving the page.
Numbers are footnoted.
Contribution limits, tax brackets, credit rules, and program details change. Where we cite a number, we tell you where it came from and when it was last updated, and we point you at primary sources (IRS.gov, CFPB, SEC) for anything you need to act on.
About our AI assistant
Our chat assistant is a retrieval-grounded educational tool: it searches our lesson corpus for relevant passages and answers from them, rather than free-associating from a general model. It refuses to make personalized recommendations, prepare or advise on your actual tax return, or recommend specific stocks, funds, lenders, or brokers.
It is not a fiduciary. It can be wrong. Do not send it account credentials, Social Security numbers, or the contents of a tax return.
Privacy first
No ad targeting, no data sale, GPC honored, retention limits published. See our full policy.
Privacy Policy βStandards-aligned
Curriculum maps to Jump$tart, CEE, and NGPF frameworks with per-state graduation-mandate crosswalks.
Standards mapping βTerms of use
Clear ground rules, an educational-purpose disclaimer, DMCA process, and a 30-day arbitration opt-out.
Terms of Service βFor schools and districts
If you teach personal finance in a US high school and want the curriculum aligned to your state's standards, condensed into a semester course, and configured with school-mode privacy defaults (no third-party links, no lender-comparison content, FERPA-friendly data handling), we'd like to hear from you.
