Privacy Policy

LearnMoney is an educational platform focused on US personal finance, taxes, and loans. We designed the Service to work with as little personal information as possible: most of our lessons, glossary entries, checklists, and standards mapping are readable without an account.

When you do give us information, whether by creating an account, using our AI assistant, or contacting us, we handle it under this policy. If a term appears throughout the policy, it has the meaning defined here or elsewhere in the document.

This policy covers the Service. It does not cover websites or services operated by third parties, even if we link to them from the Service (see §14). When you leave the Service to visit another site, that site's privacy policy controls.

If you are a resident of the European Union, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction outside the United States, please read §13 before using the Service.

We collect the following categories of information.

a. Information you provide

• Account details. If you create an account: your email address, a hashed password, and any profile fields you choose to fill in (display name, learning goals).
• Communications. Emails you send us, feedback or corrections you submit, and messages typed into the AI assistant.
• Support requests. Any information you include when you contact our team.

b. Information from your use of the Service

• Learning activity. Which lessons you started, completed, and revisited; quiz responses; interactive-widget settings; checklist items you marked done.
• AI assistant transcripts. The prompts you send and the responses returned, used to improve accuracy, safety, and product quality.
• Log data. IP address, user-agent, referrer, timestamps, page paths, and error diagnostics collected by our hosting provider and application logs.

c. Information from your device

• Cookies and similar technologies. Session cookies, preferences (like theme), and privacy-respecting analytics. See §7.
• Approximate location. Derived from IP address at country/region level for analytics and to route content (US-focused).

d. Information we do NOT collect

• We do not collect Social Security numbers, bank account or credit card numbers, brokerage credentials, or tax return data. Do not submit any of that to the AI assistant.
• We do not use audio, video, or biometric identifiers.

We use information to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Service and its content.
• Personalize your learning path and remember your progress across sessions.
• Understand which lessons, tools, and search queries work well and which ones need to be rewritten.
• Improve the AI assistant's accuracy, safety, and refusal behavior (for example, evaluating whether it correctly declined a request for personalized advice).
• Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, security incidents, and violations of our Terms of Service.
• Communicate with you about the Service and respond to your requests.
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our rights.

We do not use your information to build psychographic profiles for advertising, to serve you third-party advertising, or to determine eligibility for financial products.

We share information only with the following categories of recipients:

• Service providers. Companies we hire to operate the Service, such as cloud hosting, email delivery, error monitoring, analytics, and the model providers powering our AI assistant. They are bound by contract to use information only for the services they provide to us.
• Legal and safety. When required by law, valid legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of LearnMoney, our users, or the public.
• Business transfers. As part of a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, we will require the recipient to honor this policy or provide notice and choices where required.
• With your consent. Any other sharing will be with your explicit consent.

Some US state laws, notably California's CCPA/CPRA, define “sale” and “sharing” of personal information broadly enough to include some analytics or advertising practices.

LearnMoney does not sell personal information for money. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for cross- context behavioral advertising. If we ever change this practice, we will update this section and provide a Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information mechanism required by state law before the change takes effect.

We use three categories of cookies and similar technologies:

• Strictly necessary. Sign-in session, security, load balancing. The Service cannot function without these.
• Preferences. Remembering your theme (light or dark), your last-visited track, and other UI choices.
• Analytics. Aggregate usage counts using privacy-respecting analytics. No cross-site tracking, no third- party ad targeting.

Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies. If you disable strictly-necessary cookies you will not be able to sign in.

Because there is no consistent industry standard for Do Not Track signals, the Service does not respond to DNT headers at this time. Where the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal is broadcast by your browser, we treat it as a valid opt-out request under CCPA/CPRA and equivalent state laws for the browser session.

We retain information for as long as we have an ongoing legitimate business need. Typical retention periods are:

• Account and learning history: for the life of the account, and deleted within 30 days after account closure, except where a legal obligation requires longer retention.
• AI assistant transcripts: up to 90 days in identifiable form; longer only in de-identified aggregate form for model-improvement analysis.
• Log data: up to 30 days in raw form; aggregate metrics may be kept longer.
• Support communications: up to 3 years, to help us respond to related follow-up questions.

We may keep information longer where required by law, to resolve disputes, or to enforce our agreements.

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access. These include encryption in transit and at rest for stored data, role-based access control for our team, hardened cloud infrastructure, and routine review of our provider list.

No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of any information you transmit to us. If we experience a security incident that legally requires notification, we will notify affected users and, where applicable, state attorneys general in accordance with applicable law.

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, please contact us (see §17) and we will delete it in accordance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

Users between 13 and 18 should use the Service only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. Some US state laws require additional protections for minors between 13 and 18, and where those apply, we honor them.

When the Service is offered through a school or district, we intend to comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and student-data privacy laws that apply in your jurisdiction. Please contact us at hello@learnmoney.ai to discuss data privacy agreements.

Depending on where you live, US state privacy laws may give you the right to:

• Know what personal information we have about you.
• Receive a portable copy of that information.
• Correct inaccurate personal information.
• Delete personal information, subject to legally recognized exceptions.
• Opt out of “sale” or “sharing” of personal information (see §6).
• Opt out of targeted advertising (we do not do this).
• Opt out of profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects (we do not do this).
• Non-discrimination for exercising your rights.
• Appeal a decision we make on a rights request, under laws that provide for an appeal.

These rights are provided under laws including the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA, the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act, the Colorado Privacy Act, the Connecticut Data Privacy Act, the Utah Consumer Privacy Act, and equivalent laws in other states as they take effect.

You can exercise your rights by emailing hello@learnmoney.ai. Please tell us which right you want to exercise and enough information for us to verify your identity, usually the email associated with your account is enough. You may designate an authorized agent to submit requests on your behalf as permitted by law; we may ask for proof of the agent's authority.

We aim to respond within 30 days for CCPA/CPRA and within 45 days for other US state laws, subject to legally permitted extensions. You will not be charged a fee for a reasonable request, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

The Service is intended for use in the United States and its content reflects US laws, accounts, and tax rules. If you access the Service from outside the US, your information will be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the US, which may have different privacy protections than your country of residence.

By using the Service from outside the US, you consent to that transfer and processing. If you are in a jurisdiction that requires a specific legal basis or safeguard for such transfers, please contact us before providing personal information.

The Service links to other websites and tools, including third-party tax and loan educational tools, government resources such as the IRS, and third-party publisher pages. When you follow those links, the third party controls the information they collect. Read their privacy policies to understand their practices.

Our AI assistant is powered by third-party model providers. When you send a message, its text and the retrieved lesson passages we use to answer it are sent to the provider under contractual terms that prohibit their use for training the provider's general-purpose models without our permission.

The assistant is an educational tool. It refuses to make personalized financial, tax, or investment recommendations. Do not send it personally identifying information, account credentials, or the content of your tax return. If you accidentally include such information in a message, contact us at hello@learnmoney.ai and we will help you remove the transcript.

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of the document reflects the most recent change. If a change materially affects your rights or how we use your information, we will provide additional notice (for example, an in-product notification or an email to account holders) before the change takes effect.
