The IRS form reporting dividends and capital gain distributions from funds.
Why it matters
Box 1a = total ordinary dividends. Box 1b = qualified dividends (taxed at capital gains rates). Box 2a = long-term capital gain distributions from mutual funds. Report on Schedule B and Schedule D.
